Both CUPE 3287 and the university have been working diligently to negotiate a new collective agreement since bargaining commenced on June 18, 2021. The university believes its latest offer to settle is fair and reasonable and results in a new collective agreement that continues to provide appropriate employment terms and conditions.
The university’s latest offer to settle includes a four-year term September 1, 2021, to August 31, 2025, with stipend increases of:
- 3% January 1, 2023
- 3% September 1, 2023
- 3% September 1, 2024
In terms of the respective proposals, the outstanding item is the effective date for the retroactive increase in the second year of the four-year term. The university has proposed that the second year’s stipend increase be effective January 1, 2023, the beginning of the current Winter Term. CUPE has submitted that this stipend increase be retroactive to September 1, 2022, resulting in retroactive payments to Sessional Lecturer appointments that have concluded.
