6.1 Salary ranges

EFFECTIVE MAY 1, 2025

Salaries are reviewed on an annual basis. Position placement within a salary band is determined by the market rate for each position.

6.2 Salary increases

Salary increases are approved each year by the University’s Board of Governors (“the Board”) and take effect on May 1. These increases are applied as an across the board adjustment to all eligible Exempt employees (up to the range maximum) and are intended to maintain competitiveness with external market benchmarks.

The University reserves the right to modify, pause, or defer this program based on the Board’s direction.

Exempt employees who are hired, promoted, or transferred on or before Feb. 1 are eligible for a May 1 salary increase.

Employees hired, promoted, or transferred after February 1 are assigned a salary that already reflects the upcoming year’s increase; therefore, their next salary increase will occur in the subsequent annual cycle.

6.3 Performance review

The performance review process is part of career engagement at USASK and includes ongoing, regular discussions between employees and their supervisors.

Merit Bonuses:

Merit bonuses are one time, performance based awards that are not added to base salary. These bonuses are distributed at the University’s discretion and subject to annual program parameters. Eligibility for a merit bonus is assessed during the annual salary review cycle.

6.4 Salary review process

Exempt positions may be reviewed to confirm salary band placement and market rate.

People Leaders will work with their HR SBA to submit review requests to compensation-inquiries@usask.ca. The compensation team will review the position, assign a market rate based on the current or updated position description and determine the appropriate salary band placement.

If applicable, any resulting salary adjustments will be communicated to both the People Leader and the employee.
